I’m no stranger to crazy beauty trends. In fact, I whole-heartedly endorse them. CBD beauty is no exception, but it might be the crazy trend that can totally revolutionize the beauty industry. For years, CBD has been used for anxiety, pain relief, and sleep aid and is now going mainstream by way of your skin serums and makeup.
What is CBD?
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a byproduct of the cannabis plant. Luckily for those of you not interested in “weed” or marijuana, CBD is the part of the plant that does not have any psychoactive effects (THC is the part that causes the mental “high”). It’s known for being extremely anti-inflammatory and calming, which has known benefits in everything from fighting diseases to stress relief, and now, beauty. Trust us, your only “high” will be how glow-y your skin is.
In Your Hair Care
CBD oil contains all 21 known amino acids, which build up collagen and elastin, which are essential to strengthen hair. Therefore, it’s an MVP in preventing breakage and thickening hair. One of those amino acids, tyrosine, helps to maintain hair color. But the real area that CBD shines (pun intended) is with scalp health, as it increases good blood circulation, sloughing away dandruff and helping hair growth.
In Your Skincare
CBD seeps into your skin to nourish it, balance hormones, and calm inflammation (like eczema, rosacea, and acne). It could be the miracle product for acne-prone skin, as it helps to reduce the production of sebum (or pore-clogging oil), that typical drying acne treatments do not. It’s also rich in vitamins A, C, and E. Vitamin A keeps skin firm and healthy, vitamin C stimulates collagen production, and vitamin E is anti-aging and hydrating.
In Your Makeup
Remember all those benefits CBD has for your skin? Might as well double up with CBD makeup to increase the crazy good benefits and get that glow. But when it comes to makeup like eyebrow gels or mascaras, the products not only look great on, but they actually work to boost your makeup-free beauty, too. CBD oil stimulates hair growth through the main fatty acids, omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9. Say hello to Lucy Hale-level eyebrows and long AF lashes!
In Your General Self-Care Routine
Outside of your makeup bag and beauty routine, you can include CBD in a variety of products from candles and perfumes (the scent is meant to ease anxiety and can increase energy) to the actual oil you can put under your tongue or in your coffee for a wide range of benefits. No matter what your CBD needs are, it’s worth looking into this historically controversial, but natural and miraculous ingredient to maybe change your life.
