April 2022

If you aren’t obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury, I only have one question for you: Why not? I suppose I can give you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that you just haven’t been able to get your hands on any of the products yet. They are so good that they do sell out quite often, but if that’s not the case and you’ve had a perfectly stocked local Sephora, we need to talk about it.

The Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand and Beauty Light Wand have completely swept the internet over the last few years, but those aren’t the only products that we consider to be totally precious in our collection. Whether you are no stranger to the brand or you are a total CT newbie, here are 10 products that we consider to be the very best:

Charlotte Tilbury

Hollywood Flawless Filter

I bought the sample size after watching all of the TikTok reviews of this product, and I was immediately sold after one use. You can use it as a primer for foundation or on its own, and both options leave your skin glowing and definitely give the “flawless filter” look. I’m always impressed with how much better my makeup looks since I’ve added this product to my makeup routine, and I get so many compliments every time I use it.

Charlotte Tilbury

Wonder Glow Face Primer

I’ll never stop raving about this primer! I feel like I can wear minimal makeup because the primer leaves such a flawless finish and subtle shimmer to my face. I also love how lightweight the formula is. It makes my skin feel hydrated all day long. You definitely get a bang for your buck with this primer, as a little product goes such a long way.

Beautiful Skin Foundation

I got this foundation literally the second it launched, and I really think it is my favorite foundation I’ve ever used. I have extremely dry skin, and nothing has ever made it look so good. Most products look good at first, then within a couple of hours, they look dry on me, but this one stays dewy without being greasy—it literally just looks like healthy, beautiful skin. The most telling thing to me is the products I reach for when I really need to look good, and this foundation has become that. There was quite a lot of heated debate on TikTok between this and the new NARS foundation, but I strongly disagree with the consensus that the NARS was better. This foundation is an absolute dream for dry skin and has become my holy grail. I don’t think I’ll ever go without this in my makeup bag.

Charlotte Tilbury

Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder

This is my new favorite finishing powder. I finish my makeup by applying it to my T-zone where I find I get the most oily throughout the day. It gives my skin a smooth and bright appearance without being too heavy and making me look like I’m wearing a lot of powder. I love the blurring effect it has on my pores and blemishes, making them basically invisible.

– Keely Geist, Senior Social Media Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Airbrush Matte Bronzer

You might think that a bronzer is just a bronzer upon first glance. As long as the shade's right and it doesn't look like your face is dirty, you're good to go. I thought the same until this fell in my lap, and now, I simply cannot find joy with any other. This bronzer is the same exact formula as the famed Flawless Finish powder (the one above that Keely raved about), so it glides on your skin and blends like nothing I've ever used before. It makes my skin look glowy with a little extra color and basically no effort.

– Beth Gillette, Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Beauty Light Wand

I could take or leave the Hollywood Contour wand, but I go absolutely wild for the Beauty Light Wand in the shade Pinkgasm—it’s one of my favorite cream blushes in the game. The application is so creamy and luxe, and I love how seamlessly it blends. The color is absolutely to die for, and if you love a dewey, highlighted blush look, you need to get your hands on this when it's in stock (trust me, it sells out fast).

– Ashley Selleke, Branded Content Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Cheek to Chic Blush

As far as powder blushes go, this might be the best I’ve ever tried—ever. I love the subtle hint of shimmer that makes my skin look so glowy—no highlighter needed. I have Pillow Talk (obviously), and it somehow pairs beautifully well with my skin in the summer and the winter when my skin tone is quite a few shades different. You never have to worry about using too much, but you also don’t have to work too hard to get it to show up on your skin. Truly, it’s the Goldilocks of blushes, and I’m obsessed.

– Beth Gillette, Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Luxury Eye Palette

I am not someone who goes particularly wild in the eyeshadow department, so a quad often attracts me more than a full palette does (and is especially nice for travel, which I’m planning on doing a lot of this year). This one is full of shades of rose, which can sound like it will make you look like you have pink eye, but it literally does the exact opposite. Every time I do my eyeshadow, I use this, and the result is an elevated, cohesive eye look that makes my green eyes absolutely pop like nothing else does. I’m no eyeshadow expert, but this is easy to use and makes it look like you’re an eye-makeup master with little to no effort. The quality of these eyeshadows is the best I’ve ever used.

– Madeline Galassi, Fashion Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Pillow Talk Lipstick

Name a more iconic lipstick. I’ll wait. I picked this up when it got a ton of hype a few years ago (I swear, everyone was recommending this shade), but as soon as I swiped it on my lips for the first time, I understood why everyone was losing their minds over it. It’s matte yet moisturizing, and it looks so good on all of my friends no matter their skin tone. It’s become my go-to purse lipstick and always comes through when I’m in a pinch.

– Ashley Selleke, Branded Content Editor

Charlotte Tilbury

Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude

There is a reason this is everyone and their mother’s holy grail lip liner. It is the perfect neutral shade to pair with just about any lipstick you choose (I’m partial to Walk of No Shame) and even looks good on its own with a sheer lip gloss. If you need a lip liner that you can reach for seven days a week without a second thought, this is the one you need in your makeup bag.

The second we have our first 70-degree day, I’m planning my new ‘do. Summer haircuts are all about light, fun, and breezy styles you can do in a moment’s notice that won’t make you sweat like crazy once the temperatures spike. This summer, the cool-girl styles you’ll want to copy are full of bangs (yes, you should get bangs), layers, shags, and more. Scroll on for all the hair inspo you’ll need this summer:

1. Classic Bob

Source: Getty Images

If there’s any hairstyle we’re eyeing all of 2022, it’s the classic bob. Selena Gomez debuted a bob this year that’s made us pine after this classic ‘do that truly looks good on all hair types, and you can add bangs for some extra texture. Flip your straight hair in for a Parisian vibe or let your natural texture add lots of volume for curly/coily hair.

2. Wispy Bangs

Source: Getty Images

Bangs have taken over the hair world in the last few years, and we’re not seeing them leave anytime soon. 2022’s bang is a wispier, piece-y style with a lot of movement. All textures can wear this style, and it works especially well with fine/thin hair as well as curls. To style, use a blow dryer and a round brush to give them shape and put them in place.

3. Buzzed

There’s no better time to take the plunge into a buzzed cut than in the summer heat. If a sweaty neck and forehead don’t sound like your vibe (relatable), a buzzed cut might be the dream. We love this style on all textures, and it works well with all face shapes. Plus, if you’re lazy when it comes to doing your hair, this requires zero styling—a dream.

4.  Choppy Shag

Source: Getty Images

Combining two trends in one (wispy bangs and layers), this style is for all the cool girls out there who like to take a risk. This cut has come back around for a few years now, but we’re going to see it go a bit more mainstream this year, meaning now’s the time if you want to get in on the trend before it blows up (re: curtain bangs).

5. Lots of Layers

Source: @barbieferreira

Everyone from Barbie Ferreira to Hailey Bieber to Laura Harrier is rocking the long layered look, and this summer sounds like the perfect time to hop on the trend. You can still do all of your favorite styles (ponytails, half-up, braids, etc.)—just with a bouncy, ’90s twist.

6. Pixie

Source: Getty Images

There’s no better time than summer 2022 to go for a pixie. This style is pretty much always trending, but we’re loving it on wavy and curly hair, especially right now. With lots of texture and volume, it looks fresh and new rather than your grandma’s go-to ‘do.

7. Long Locs

Source: Getty Images

Protective styles that keep Black and Brown hair in good shape during the intense summer heat that would normally lead to frizz are a go-to for a reason. Long faux locs are a cool way to add a fun style to your hair that protects your hair while keeping it trendy. We’re also partial to Chloe Bailey’s summery blonde, but long locs of all shades will be everywhere this summer.

8. Textured Lob

Source: Getty Images

If you want a style with lots of movement and bounce for the summertime, adding lots of layers and texture to your lob will make it feel like a summertime style. We love this cut because it’s so easy to style quickly. Use a flat iron and curling iron to add some extra curls and shape to your hair if you have naturally straight or wavy hair, and curls and coils can wear this natural. Easy-peasy.

The beauty products that I display on my bathroom counter take a complete 180 when warmer weather hits. I no longer want to wear full-coverage foundation, I am more interested in lightweight lotions over thick creams, and I remember my appreciation for any and all frizz-control hair treatments—the heat and I get along very well, but the heat and my naturally curly hair don’t exactly vibe.

To me, swapping the products in my beauty routine is just as much fun (and as necessary) as reuniting with my summer capsule wardrobe at the beginning of the season. There are beauty products that I continue to reach for year after year when warm weather hits, and since I know a few fellow product lovers (read: TEG editors) that feel the same, I asked them to let me in on the products that they reach for most this time of year. So without further ado, here are the warm-weather products that we love and reach for the most:

Rare Beauty

Blot + Glow Touch-Up Kit

When summer rolls around, there is only one way to describe my skin: sweaty. While I definitely deal with an oily T-zone, I am plagued by sweaty skin from the moment I wake up until the moment I stick my face into the AC (Listen, I don’t handle the heat well, OK!). So when it gets hot outside, I have to keep items to touch up my face and prevent sweat from taking over my entire makeup look. This refillable kit is ideal: One side contains blotting papers and the other is a finely milled powder to mattify and get rid of intense shine. It doesn’t make my skin look cakey or take away the intentional dew on my skin, but it does take me back to how I looked when I first put my makeup on that morning. Selena, you’re a genius for this.

— Beth, Editor

Farmacy

Daily Greens Oil-Free Gel Moisturizer

While my skin stays pretty combination in the summer (very oily T-zone + tightness thanks to extra time in the sun), the thick, occlusive moisturizers I rely on in the winter just feel heavy on my skin in the summer. In the mornings, I want something light that feels like nothing is on my face. At night, I can’t bear to handle something thick on my skin when I’m going to bed. Enter: this gel moisturizer. I couldn’t live without this last summer, and I’ve already picked up a new tub because I can’t imagine going through the warmer months without it. It feels so lightweight on my skin, but it leaves me feeling just as moisturized as my thicker formulas do. I couldn’t get through summer without it.

— Beth, Editor

Jo Malone

Wild Bluebell Cologne

I love to swap out my perfumes in the summertime for something lighter and brighter than the woody, darker perfumes I wear in the fall and winter. The second I smelled this, it became a go-to. I love how light and airy this perfume is, and it smells like nothing else I’ve tried. It’s definitely floral, but the white musk notes in the base ground it, so it just smells expensive. I’ve been savoring this all spring, but when the first slew of 70-degree days roll around, prepare to be sick of me and this scent.

— Beth, Editor

Fenty

Cheeks Out Cream Bronzer

We are in the era of cream cheek products, and I’ve tried just about all of them—but when it comes to bronzer, nothing compares to this for me, especially in the summer. The formula of this looks incredibly natural on the skin—even bare skin—and really does just look like you’ve been kissed by the sun. I use this both on days I’m wearing makeup and days I’m not to warm up my skin, and I always know it’ll stay all day—even if my day involves a lot of sweat.

— Maddie, Fashion Editor

Color Wow

Dream Coat

I have straight, fine hair, and while nothing could make it get curly or wavy, the humidity does make it quite frizzy, and this award-winning product has been a literal miracle for that. Coating your hair with it after you shower smooths hair with a humidity-blocking technology that lasts three to four washes (so the bottle lasts absolutely forever). This makes my hairstyles actually last in the summer and has made humidity a non-factor for me hair-wise. Since it’s formulated for all hair types, I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t love this too.

— Maddie, Fashion Editor

Supergoop!

PLAY Antioxidant Body Mist SPF 50 with Vitamin C

This has been my go-to body sunscreen for years (yes, I am on a subscription), and I am not switching anytime soon. The formula is clean of chemical propellants (meaning it’s a cleaner option than your typical chemical sunscreen, making it healthier for you and for the planet because it’s reef-friendly), but it’s also full of ingredients that really make my skin glow (even without a tan!) like vitamin C and various extract oils—it feels more like a luxe and light body oil or mist than it feels like a thick sunscreen. My favorite part is that it’s a spray (way easier than a lotion, right?), but it’s non-aerosol, so it’s better for you and the planet. Win, win, and win!

— Josie, Wellness Editor

Tan-Luxe

Hydrating Self-Tan Water

I don’t tan; I burn and/or get moles. In other words, I do not even sit by a window without a healthy slather of SPF. But I love nothing more than a radiant glow and a "did I or didn’t I just get back from vacation" tan throughout all of summer, so I fake it with this gradual self-tanner. But don’t be fooled: This self-tanner is not like other self-tanners (notice the chicness of “self-tan water”) and is well worth the price, IMO. It’s a super gradual, even tan (so you can spray it on as a final step in your morning or evening routine every day without waking up with splotches or a bright-orange complexion), and it contains amazing ingredients for your skin to boost radiance and hydrate, so it’s just like any other skincare step loaded with powerful ingredients—except it leaves an even and natural tan.

— Josie, Wellness Editor

Sun Bum

SPF 30 Sunscreen Lip Balm

If you’ve ever felt the pain of sunburned lips, you understand why it’s so important not to forget your lips in your daily SPF routine. I’ve been using this Sun Bum lip balm for years, and even if I try something else, I always find my way back to this product. I love all of the flavors that it comes in and the fact that it’s super affordable. It’s formulated with aloe vera, cocoa butter, and vitamin E, so it leaves my lips feeling extra smooth while keeping them protected.

— Jess, Associate Editor

Three Ships

Dew Drops Mushroom Hyaluronic Acid + Vitamin C Serum

If there’s one thing I want my skin to be during the warmer months, it’s dewy and glowy. I’m always trying different skincare and makeup products that promise me that natural-looking glow, but I especially appreciate one that helps my skin glow all on its own. These Dew Drops are formulated with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C, which is the perfect combination to make my skin feel hydrated and smooth, giving me the perfect canvas for the minimal, dewy makeup looks I love rocking all summer long.

— Jess, Associate Editor

bareMinerals

Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer

I have tried many tinted moisturizers over the years, and I always come back to this one by bareMinerals. It’s perfect for warmer days because it has a gel-cream consistency that feels super lightweight on the skin, it has crazy-good hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and squalane, and it has SPF 30. I like to either wear it alone for light coverage or add another layer with a setting powder for additional coverage where and when I need it.

— Hailey, Editorial Assistant

Supergoop!

Mineral Part Powder

One second, you’re wearing a cute ponytail in the sunshine, and the next, your part has a bright red sunburn. Is there really anything worse? Introducing: Supergoop! Mineral Part Powder. Call me dramatic, but this is a total lifesaver during warm-weather months. I love it because it is a 100% mineral powder spray with SPF 35, it applies just like a dry shampoo, and it is formulated with safe ingredients. Try this out, and thank me later.

— Hailey, Editorial Assistant

La Roche-Posay

Mineral Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen

In the summer, my face sweats uncontrollably, so I do my best to avoid any sort of heavy makeup. I got this tinted sunscreen last year, and it’s the perfect solution for days when I want to look a little bit more alive and protect my face from the sun’s rays. I recently just got the Supergoop! Glow Screen, and while a lot of people really swear by it, I’ve found that this La Roche-Posay one is a much better fit for me because it’s a little more matte but still gives off a slightly dewey finish that I love.

— Ashley, Branded Content Editor

Fenty

Eaze Drop Blurring Skin Tint

The mere idea of putting foundation on in the summer brings me pain. Spending hours on a full face just for it to melt away with ease has happened one too many times. This blurring skin tint is everything I needed and more. It’s extremely light and buildable, so it’s perfect for daily use. With 25 shades, this skin tint is perfect for literally anyone. It’s sweat- and humidity-resistant while also being the perfect size for travel!

— Tierra, Editorial Intern

The Ordinary

Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%

Whoever said being an oily girl was fun completely lied, but this niacinamide serum from The Ordinary makes it a lot easier. When my pores are clogged with all of the excess sweat and oil from having fun in the sun, this serum is a great overnight formula to even out any shine and congestion.

— Tierra, Editorial Intern

First Aid Beauty

Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

My mom talked about this product nonstop, so I had to try it. Immediately, I fell in love. It’s the perfect light, airy moisturizer that will give a boost and keep you from feeling congested. For all the girls with eczema or skin conditions, it’s made with colloidal oatmeal to help calm the skin, too!

Hey, you! Yes, you, with the cart full of designer eyeshadow palettes and a-million-and-one lipstick shades! We’ve all seen enough YouTube tutorials and TikToks to know that there are plenty of hacks, dupes, and techniques that will save us all from spending our last coin. And although being new to makeup can be a little jarring, it’s important to pick your battles in Target’s makeup aisle. Believe it or not, you can find the perfect beauty products to ensure the best IG selfies (every single time) with these drugstore favorites.

loreal foundation
L'oréal

Fresh Wear 24HR Foundation

When you’re just starting out with makeup, the first thing on your mind is probably foundation. To avoid looking cakey or feeling like your foundation is too heavy, try this lightweight one. This is available in 40 shades, so everyone can find their match. This glides on so easily and can be applied with a brush or sponge.

nyx bare with me concealer
NYX

Bare With Me Hydrating Face & Body Concealer Serum

When it comes to concealer, you always want something that looks good under your eyes and all over your face as a spot treatment. This NYX concealer is so natural and blends smoothly into foundation, or it works really well on its own. It’s light under the eyes, but it also works well on blemishes and dark spots.

maybelline fit me powder
Maybelline

Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder

For setting your makeup into place so it lasts all day long, this loose powder is just as good as all the expensive versions. It’s available in a few shades to make sure it won’t make you look washed out regardless of your skin tone, and it never looks too heavy or cakey. Apply it lightly in the areas you want to set to take down shine and keep your foundation on all day.

elf putty bronzer
e.l.f Cosmetics

Putty Bronzer

A cream bronzer is the way to go if you’re new to makeup, and this one is totally beginner-friendly. It blends like a dream and looks very natural on the skin. This will just add a touch of color to your skin, and if your shade is on the cool side, you can also use it as a contour.

nyx tinted blush
NYX

Sweet Cheeks Soft Cheek Tint Blush

Our editor swears by this blush (and even likes it more than a viral expensive one!) because it’s so easy to blend and apply. If you’re afraid of looking like a clown after applying too much blush, this one is perfect because it is really subtle and looks natural on your skin, regardless of the color you get.

flower beauty highlight
FLOWER Beauty

Spotlight Liquid Highlight

To add an extra glow to your skin, apply this highlighter to your cheekbones and other high points of the face. A lot of highlighters just add a cast of glitter all over your face, but not this one.

juvia's place the scholocates eyeshadow palette
Juvia's Place

The Chocolates Eyeshadow Palette

Neutral eyeshadow is a must in anyone’s collection, whether you’re doing a barely-there look or a smokey eye. Juvia’s Place eyeshadows are ideal because they are pigmented but blend in without much effort, and the shimmers are so gorgeous.

maybelline mascara
Maybelline

Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

After testing 10 drugstore mascaras, our editor fell in love with this one, and it made its way into her regular rotation. She’s been using it nonstop because it lengthens and volumizes without clumping.

revlon eyeliner
Revlon

ColorStay Eyeliner

This eyeliner will do everything you need an eyeliner to do—at less than $10. You can line your waterline, do a wing, and even use the smudge brush to smudge it out into a smokey eye. You can’t go wrong.

maybelline lifter gloss
Maybelline

Lifter Gloss with Hyaluronic Acid

This lip gloss is a near-exact dupe for some of the most sought-after, expensive lip glosses. It comes in tons of different shades, but we love the shade “Moon” for a natural look with a little shimmer.
