Between every season’s new beauty trends, daily heat styling, and our ever-growing dependence on dry shampoo, our hair takes a significant beating. Face masks get all the glory when it comes to weekly deep treatments, but it’s time that we give hair masks the credit where credit it’s due.
Whether you’re plagued with split ends, still trying to recover from years of box dyeing your hair in college, or your scalp gets itchy in the winter, there’s a treatment out there that your hair is begging for. Here are a few of our favorite masks to replenish, rehydrate, and revive your tired strands.
Hair Perfector No.3
We haven't been without a bottle of this magic potion since it was released earlier this year. The Olaplex Hair Perfector is an absolute must for color-treated hair. Not technically a moisturizer, this mask focuses on rebuilding protein bonds that are stripped away during color treatments to reduce breakage, frizz, and split ends.
Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Masks
Rosehip and almond oil do double duty in this intensely hydrating treatment mask to soften and smooth brittle strands, while algae extract and B vitamins deliver amino acids and antioxidants deep into the hair shaft to reinforce and strengthen hair. For an extra deep treatment, apply the mask, and then cover with a shower cap and blast with heat from your hair dryer for 2-3 minutes.
Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque
A drugstore item we truly can’t live without, this mask is universally beneficial to all hair types, but especially to those who are focusing on hair growth. Whether you’re trying to grow out bangs you cut on an impulse or want to want to shape your natural curls, SheaMoisture delivers all the benefits of castor oil with none of the mess!
Strand Strengthening Reconstructive Moisture Mask
As the name implies, this mask focuses on strengthening hair shaft and follicles by deeply hydrating while also delivering lots of vitamin-rich goodness to your locks. The signature scent of this whole line alone is a good enough reason to try it out, but your hair will benefit from far more than simply smelling nice!
Shea Butter & Coconut Oil Hair Mask
Shea butter, coconut oil, and argan oil comprise TJ’s super affordable and incredibly rich hair mask, perfect for more frequent treatment on dryer hair types. We like to apply a little bit to the ends of our hair every time we wash.
Hydrating Mask
This glycerine-based mask helps bind your hair’s natural moisture to itself and seals it in with Babaso oil, a super hydrating ingredient perfect for weekly pampering of stressed out hair. We like to use this one after using a purifying shampoo or exfoliating our scalps to bring back in the moisture that is lost in the process!
Restorative Hair Mask
The long-running gold standard for improving texture and boosting shine, MoroccanOil’s argan oil blend has been rescuing our lifeless and dull hair for years. The restorative mask also includes a hefty amount of amino acids that benefit all hair types, especially natural hair.
Miracle Hair Mask
There’s a little of everything in this one, from ingredients that deeply nourish and protect to those that add a noticeable amount of shine. We love their leave-in treatment, and every couple weeks we wear this mask overnight and wake up with a totally transformed head of hair.
